Description
For this project, I developed a dynamic shader and particle system for the Quantum Beacon from "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." The goal was to faithfully recreate the movie effect while ensuring optimization for mobile AR use.
I modeled and textured the 3D Quantum Beacon using Autodesk Maya and Substance Painter, referencing studio-provided images of the set prop and footage from the trailers. The shader and particle system were crafted in Unity using the Universal Render Pipeline. I employed the Amplify Shader plugin to create the shader and utilized Unity's built-in particle system for the particle effects, designing necessary sprites in Photoshop.
This asset was featured in an interactive augmented reality experience within the Regal and Really apps, allowing users to learn about the Quantum Beacon and the Quantum Realm. Through the Quantum Beacon, users could shrink objects into the Quantum Realm and search for them, enhancing their engagement with the movie's themes. The setup was modular, facilitating easy adjustments for any 3D model and enabling the creation of new effects as needed.
